Shoot for the Moon

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars,” Has it become a cliche to quote this? Because I've been saying it long before it became a cliche...Okay, Norman Vincent Peale said it.

"What's your favorite color of your favorite car?"
These brilliant Violent Femmes lyrics work on so many levels.
Quirky. Fun. The answer provides so much information on your personality. So tell me in the comments, what's your favorite color of your favorite car? or on Twitter @Feefeertr.

Pretty cool, huh?

Life's a Battle

"Life's a constant battle between the heart and the brain, but guess who wins? The skeleton." -Jack Handey

Yes, I did read his book. And yes it does look nice on my bookshelf. And oh yeah, the book was pretty funny too.

Grand Hotel

Great movies like "The Grand Budapest Hotel" and "Last Holilday" take place in these luxurious hotels we could only imagine going to...except they actually took place in an actual hotel, the Grand Hotel in Pupp Czech to be exact. I think I know where my dream vacation will be.

And when I do book that vacation, I will use my friends at Hotel Retreats, who make it easy to find luxury hotel breaks across the UK, from country house hotels to luxury spas, there's something for people of all ages. We're big advocates of the British countryside - we love country walks, country pubs, country music (well maybe not so much country music) - and everything this wonderful part of the world offers. We're expanding our offering all the time, with guides to city breaks, tips for things to look for in your hotel, as well as listing local attractions nearby popular hotels, helping you to plan your itinerary with ease!

And then comment and tell me where your dream destination is or Tweet me @Feefeertr.

Favorite Musical Performances: Indefinite Ed. Part 1

There are so many amazing musical performances floating around out there. These are some of my all time favorites, but I'm constantly adding to the list (hence the Indefinite Ed. title):

I first saw this in high school, and it still feels just as magical. He is not just an amazing singer but a real performer: Mad World

Of course the White Stripes are on the list. It was a close toss up between "Seven Nation Army" and "Icky Thump," but Jack jumping with the guitar mid-song made for an easier choice: Icky Thump

This is part of a longer movie. It is so odd, yet mesmerizing you will never forget it: Book of Days

It is impossible to watch this without crying. The emotions in this are unreal, and she is simply amazing: I Am Telling You

While her performance on SNL will remain my favorite, this one is still amazing (and available to see online): Digital Witness

This one kind of goes without saying, but I had to put it on here anyway, even though I'm confident anyone with a pulse has seen it: Here It Goes Again

WARNING: The most dark and twisted music video I've ever seen. While it may give you nightmares, it's Rezner at his best: Closer

Funny, smart, and nostalgic. Not to mention a boatload of talent: Fresh Prince

I always thought The All American Rejects seemed too cool to call themselves rejects...until I saw this. And it all fell into place: Womanizer

A classic, but it's perfect for so many reasons: Come Together

She continues to amaze me. The fact that one woman can do all this is just unreal. I cannot wait to see what she does next. Til then, we have this: She Wolf

And there you have it...some of my favorite performances. What are some of yours? Leave a comment or tweet it to me @feefeertr!

I Before E

If you need any more proof at the complexity of the English language, look no further than the i before e rule, which is wrong most of the time. There are 923 words that break the i before e rule...and only 44 that follow it.

Favorite Phrases

Phrases can be just as fun as words! My top five phrases (not to be confused with my top 5 favorite words: marvelous, awesome, oxymoron, retrospect, and obsolete) are one-eyed TV, glass shrimp, perpetual misunderstandings, virtual dimensions, and morbid curiosity. What are yours?

The 40 Day Plague

If you've ever wondered where the word 'quarantine' comes from (haven't we all?), it started during times of plague when a ship would dock for 40 days. In case you didn't guess, it is of Latin origin. Also of Latin origin is the phrase libra pondo (weight measurement) which is where we get our abbreviation lb. for pound.
                                                       Finally, the world makes sense.

Truman

Harry S Truman's middle name was literally S. It doesn't stand for anything. His parents couldn't decide on a middle name, so they just went with S.
