The 40 Day Plague
If you've ever wondered where the word 'quarantine' comes from (haven't we all?), it started during times of plague when a ship would dock for 40 days. In case you didn't guess, it is of Latin origin. Also of Latin origin is the phrase libra pondo (weight measurement) which is where we get our abbreviation lb. for pound.
