Interview with Remso W. Martinez of the Remso Republic Podcast

Today, I had the pleasure of interviewing Remso W. Martinez, the host of the Remso Republic podcast, one of the fastest growing libertarian podcasts online. Since 2015 he has been an activist, blogger, and campaign consultant advocating for freer markets and individual liberty.

ME: What lead you to start your podcast?
REMSO: What we have in conservative and libertarian circles is a commentator complex, by that I mean we have a lot of people yelling the same thing but with no real insight or resume to back themselves up. My time in the political arena regarding activism, blogging, and campaigning gave me an insight into the unsavory world of politics that the media ignores. I was at a position in my life where I had the opportunity to connect to people in a way which would have a real impact on my listeners, from there the rest was history.

ME: What do you see as the most important issues facing Americans today?
REMSO: The largest issue facing the US is school choice. We segregate classes of people based off school district boundary lines, we place ridiculous restrictions on home schooling families, and the federal government looks down on private education and charter schools. The best way to solve the nation's challenges is to unlock the potential within the next generation, and school choice and educational freedom is the key.

ME: So you're a punk rocker? Who are some of your favorite bands? What do you listen to?
REMSO: I'm a huge Misfits fan, but Green Day is the soundtrack of my life.

ME: Anything else to add?
You can check out my website at www.remsorepublic.com and subscribe to my show on iTunes, Soundcloud, and Stitcher

Thank you so much, Remso!

My Notebook

The other night, I was going through my notebook (which is now about four years old, although some of its contents are from notebooks that were about a decade old.) It's amazing to see the different themes that emerge and how viewpoints change, yet everything still resonates. Case and point: I still love my neon green notebook.

And now a word from my friends at Mobile to you Hair Replacement :

Facebook Follow

Almost all of the authors at GenZ have Facebook Fan pages, and I have always encouraged it. But I have never had a fan page for myself. Why? Because of the Facebook follow feature. Facebook limits  the reach posts on fan pages unless you boost them, so I think it is better to just have my Facebook profile where people can follow for their updates. It's more personal that way, kind of like Instagram, anyway. Who's with me?

Young Digital Entrepreneurs

I love young digital entrepreneurs. They are our future.

My friend, Jacob, is only 21 and has started a really cool new website to raise funds for Haiti, Ukraine and Liberia http://pixelhelpers.com. His slogan is "Help me, help others." The way it works, is you buy ad space on the site, and 80% goes to those charities. The other 20% goes towards his college education (he is 21 after all). How cool is that?

Solar Chargers

As you probably know, I'm a big fan of tech. I have been into the latest gizmos since I was a kid...I remember saving up for what seemed like forever when I was a kid for a Video Now player and then in high school, just to get an iPad. That hasn't changed much. I am connected all the time with my tech. That's why my biggest peeve is when it dies on me. I have anxiety over it dying too. Because it may say 30%, but you know that thing is a ticking time bomb. I never really let my battery drain lower than 54% for that reason...I have become a professional outlet hunter.

And that's why I love https://www.solarchargelife.com/ so much. I don't have to hunt down the power outlets anymore. I just plug my devices into the solar charging power bank, and I am good to go. Cool, huh? And they clip right to my backpack! (You know how I feel about my backpacks! Haha)

Reading

So I found out an interesting factoid yesterday...the first few digits of my phone number spell out I read-0-OK. How appropriate. I've had this number since I was 16...I guess my phone just knows me well. Ahaha.

Now speaking of reading, I have a great new book for you just in time for Christmas.
It is a 250 page Christmas novel, for all ages called 'The Magic Christmas Tree.' Just go to http://www.davidcowdall.com and click on that first post to find it. I love this, because there are so many Christmas movies, but you never really see Christmas books.

Our future leaders need to know that a 9-5 is not their only option. In the talk, “Modern World of Work,” students will learn how they can graduate without worrying about debt and what to do next with their lives, because digital entrepreneurship is changing how we work.
