No matter how old you are, your skin can be difficult to care for. You never know when acne is going to erupt or a cold sore is going to pop up. Luckily, there are things you can do to care for your skin and avoid issues. If a problem does occur, certain treatment methods can help you take care of your skin properly.
Skin Blemishes
Sebum is an oil that can be very helpful; it keeps the hair and the skin moisturized. However, sebum can also cause problems for your skin when it becomes clogged in your pores. Pimples pop up as a result of this blockage. Many teenagers suffer from acne because their hormones are rising, which means that there is a higher level of sebum production. There are a number of glands that produce oil on the chin, nose and forehead, which means that acne is more likely to appear in these areas.
No one wants to deal with a breakout, and luckily, there are a few things you can do when treating acne. First, keep your skin clean. Use a gentle soap and lukewarm water. Rub your face in a clockwise motion, and be careful not to apply too much pressure. In addition, make sure you perform this ritual no more than twice per day. Once you are finished, it is a good idea to massage in a lotion with benzoyl peroxide.
Never pop your pimples, no matter how much you want to or think it will help. When you pop a pimple, you can cause more redness and swelling because the infected material may move down into your skin. If you feel a pimple beginning to form, and you know you have a special event coming up, you can always consult with a dermatologist and avoid any issues.
Keep your hands away from your face. Keep other objects, like your cell phone, away from your face as much as possible. This will help you avoid getting bacteria on your skin, bacteria that can cause irritation and inflammation. In addition, always wash your hands if you do need to touch your face. This will keep the bacteria at bay as well.
Glasses and sunglasses need to be cleaned often. If not, the area around the nose and eyes is prone to breakouts.
Never leave on makeup while you are sleeping. It is also important to purchase brands that are nonacnegenic or noncomedogenic. If you’ve had makeup for a long time, get rid of it; makeup can go bad. Also, it is always a good idea to pull your hair away from your face to ensure that you don’t get extra oil and dirt on your skin.
Do not attempt to get tan in order to hide your acne. Sun damage can harm your skin in many ways, including making your breakout more severe.
